Late Night @Gas Station
I actually never do this!!! The other day I had to go shopping super late at night for some school supplies and I stopped for gas on the way. I had just woken up from an unexpected nap, was still half-asleep… I wasn’t in a
“ I am only one person, but because all of you have kindly cooperated with me, this movement has now become a success all over the world. . . . Even if one does not read the book but simply holds it and sees it, he is benefited.” (Bombay – May 6, 1977)
The staleness of everyday life is transformed into the fresh and exciting ecstasy of the spiritual world by a sense of anticipation that at any moment we could be an instrument of the Lord’s pleasure. For our own benefit, we’re all called to become full-time Sankirtan devotees: ‘kirtaniya sada hari…’
Carrying a few transcendental books with us everywhere we go is the easiest way to give traction and meaning to this prayer of becoming an instrument of Mahaprabhu’s mercy and pleasure.

Therefore I order every man within this universe to accept this Krishna consciousness movement and distribute it everywhere (CC Ādi 9.36).
In the Chaitanya-charitamrita, this Krishna Consciousness Movement is compared to a transcendental tree. The fruits of this tree are love of God, and Sri Krishna Chaitanya has commanded us to eat these fruits and distribute them all over the world:
yāre dekha, tāre kaha ‘kṛṣṇa’-upadeśa.
Whomever you meet, simply talk with him about the instructions given by Krishna or tell him of narrations about Krishna (CC Madhya 7.128).
By keeping a few of Srila Prabhupada’s books and kṛṣṇa-prasādam with you wherever you go, you can easily experience the same joy and excitement that devotees felt in the early days of the Hare Krishna movement when Srila Prabhupada walked the planet.
Follow these four simple steps:
1. Get books2. Get prasadam3. Get a bag4. Carry the bag with you
Afraid of What Might Happen? Don’t Be!
HG Mahatma Das: “Is book distribution actually painful, difficult, the cause of anxiety, etc.? I must admit that I have felt all these and other negative emotions while on book distribution, usually when I’d first go out or when I’d be having a rough day. Time and again, however, those negative emotions were replaced by bliss, enthusiasm, and satisfaction as the day went on. Plus, by sticking it out I would get a dose of massive purification. And this had nothing to do with how many books I distributed.
If you make the effort to distribute books, Krishna takes note. And that goes to you eternal benefit.“
